Analisis Produktivitas Alat Berat pada Aktivitas Penggalian Tambang Batu Bara: Studi Kasus PT XYZ

Abstract

Increasing heavy equipment productivity is an important factor in achieving production targets in coal mining activities. This study aims to analyze the productivity of heavy equipment used in soil excavation activities and to identify operational factors associated with low equipment productivity at PT XYZ, a coal mining company in East Kalimantan. The study utilized historical data on heavy equipment utilization and excavation activities from January to June 2019, as well as data obtained from direct observations in the SM-D mining area from July to September 2019. The analysis was conducted by calculating work effectiveness and efficiency, cycle time, and the productivity of loading equipment (excavators) and hauling equipment (dump trucks). The results showed that the Liebherr 9350 had the shortest cycle time of 46 minutes, with the highest productivity of 951.65 m³/hour. Meanwhile, the Komatsu PC-2000 had the longest cycle time of 50 minutes, with the lowest productivity of 570.24 m³/hour. For hauling equipment, the Komatsu 785 had the shortest cycle time of 28.6 minutes and the highest productivity of 102.71 m³/hour, whereas the Caterpillar 777D had the longest cycle time of 30.7 minutes and the lowest productivity of 85.85 m³/hour. The observation results indicated that low productivity was influenced by waiting time due to the use of a single excavator unit, equipment breakdowns, and poor haul road conditions. Therefore, productivity improvements can be achieved through optimized heavy equipment scheduling, regular maintenance of equipment and haul roads, and the deployment of two excavator units to reduce waiting time for hauling equipment.
